For foreign visitors

The same terms as for Kyrgyz citizens: 23 years old, three years of licence, a deposit. English-speaking support, airport meeting, payment in som or dollars.

Documents: the passport you entered the country with and your driving licence. An International Driving Permit or a notarised translation is not a formality — traffic police may ask for it at a stop.

Leaving Kyrgyzstan is not allowed: the car does not go to Kazakhstan, Tajikistan or Uzbekistan. No power of attorney, international insurance or border paperwork is issued.

Foreign bank cards sometimes fail at the terminal — keep a backup payment method. The deposit is taken in cash: dollars, euros or som.
